The time has come to call it! Close the polls! Lock up the precincts! Tally the votes, you embedded website poll widget! The time has come to announce the results for the biggest poll yet!
So a little backstory...last week after Jawbox's superfans stormed our studio, I posed this question to you, dear readers: Which band has the most dedicated superfans? We gave you some choices and let you fight it out on with your mouses, clicking til' your carpal tunnel burned so bad you had to take a break and listen to a mastermix of [insert your favorite band]'s singles.
And you guys responded - BIG. There were more than 70,000 votes in the poll. WHAT!? You were all so dedicated! Huzzah! There were a few front runners early on - CKY fans, ICP's Juggalos, and Phish fans (or Phans or Phishheads, etc.) and the polls swayed back and forth. But then other fans got in on the action too - Widespread Panic fans, the KISS Army, Grateful Dead fans, and even the write-in power of NKOTB's Blockheads hung tough (ba dum dum).
But this wasn't just about the voting. There was crazy activity in the comments! (Over 2000? You guys are the bestest.) The comments ranged from vicious trash talking, to fans of the same bands internet-high fiving each other, to - eventually - fans of different bands actually coming together. Juggalos and Phishheads started complimenting each other on their dedication to their respective bands! Fences were mended, hatchets were buried, Phishes were set to swim free (these puns are ridiculous, I'm sorry). But there was true discourse happening right here (and there was equal ridiculousness as well)! We did it everyone!
In the end, one leader emerged in the polls. And that leader was:

A lot of these comments make ashamed to be a Phish fan. If anyone should know the value of listening to music outside the mainstream and being criticized based solely on how you let loose at a show it should be Phish fans...how can you say that their music "sucks". It's all subjective and a matter of what music hits your core. - dkb82
It has definately been pretty interesting. I feel like for the last half of the year that an eventual meeting of the fanbases was gonna happen. I can't even tell you guys how much I've defended juggalos this year on our board. Juggalos are just misunderstood. Yeah we both have bad apples, but there are lots of good people to be found on both sides.
