The Famous Muppet Pipes Unveiled In Studio 6B

Posted by Cory Cavin 06/14/2010

Studio 6B is home to TONS of history here in 30 Rockefeller plaza. Before LNWJF moved in it was home to blockbuster shows such as The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson and Tonight starring Jack Parr. Among the history there is a little gem behind one of the walls called The Muppet Pipes. The story goes that Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Don Sahlin, and Jerry Juhl were waiting for their appearance on Tonight starring Jack Parr and out of boredom and fun mischievousness decided to paint up the pipes like Muppets. The pipes were inside a dressing room for years (the dressing room once belonged to Max Weinberg when Conan was across the hall in Studio 6A) but now they're finally open for the public to see. Jimmy and Meredith Viera took a walk by the pipes and through the new Studio 6B museum for Today last week. Check it out and check out a slideshow of the whole museum after the jump:

Come on an NBC Studios Tour and see all this for yourself! Check out the full slideshow of the Muppets pipes too!
