The Moose Is Loose: Jimmy’s Fantasy Football Team Week 7

Posted by Josh Lay 10/26/2011

Woooweeee! What another great week on the grid iron. Unless you're the Colts who got absolutely annihilated by the Saints 62-7! 62-7 folks. Who woulda thunk it. Another team that didn't have the best week on the grid iron was America's favorite team, 7th Floor West Moose. After last weeks stellar performance against Team Trashy Tinkers it felt like ol' mo (momentum) was finally on the Moose's side, but alas, Jimmy's team fell just short of starting a two game winning streak. Unfortunately The Moose suffered it's fifth loss of the season, and here's why:

Quarterback play. Last week Jimmy's QB Josh Freeman was lights out and led his team to a victory! This week? Well, the Chicago Bear's D proved to be too much for the gun slinger as Freeman threw 4 picks. He wasn't the only player on The Moose who struggled. The traditionally consistent WR Miles Austin only amassed 16yds, and RB Maurice Jones-Drew who is always solid on the ground raked in 105 rushing yards, but no TDs. All in all it seemed as though the Moose played well enough to win it's just they could never find the end zone. Tampa Bay's WR Mike Williams had his season high 75 yds, but couldn't get in the end zone against a stingy Chicago Bear defense. All Jimmy's team needed was a measly four points to keep the Moose alive, but in this game of inches Hankinson's Mean Machine took care of business and got a much needed win.

For the Mean Machine, there's no "I" in team, but there is in Greg Jennings who had a monster game with 147 receiving yards and a touchdown. There's also no "I" in Cam Newton, but there doesn't need to be one when he doesn't throw any INT's and carry's his team to a victory. Take away those two players from the Mean Machine and there wasn't much production from any other player. But unlike real life, in fantasy you can have production from only a couple guys and pull off a victory.

It was a good match up with The Moose in a great place to pull out the victory, but the Mean Machine lived up to it's name and thwarted the hopes of the home team.

Here's the 7th Floor West Moose's week 7 results:

And now for the Mean Machine's results:

There you go. Week 7 in the books. Will week eight be great for The Moose? Only time will tell. An old soothsayer once said, "beware the ides of March!" That has nothing to do with week 8, but perhaps someone should beware of the 7th Floor West Moose next week. As my old football coach used to say, hit or be hit. Think about it.
