7th Floor West, Episode 2.3 Photos!

Posted by Sara Schaefer August 17, 2010 12:30 PM

Last week, we aired the third episode of the second season of our hit reality series, 7th Floor West. After discovering Miles' dirty campaign for Fire Warden, Jimmy must hope against all hopes that his simple fliers (supplied by Higgins, who - not surprisingly - managed to bungle the spelling of Jimmy's last name) will convince voters to choose him over the lemonade-wielding Miles. Analyze all the beautiful drama in this handy photo gallery of last week's episode!

7th Floor West 2.3: "It's Time"

Posted by Sara Schaefer August 13, 2010 12:30 AM

Last time on 7th Floor West, both Jimmy and Miles decided they wanted to be the fire warden. But, there can only be one, so the staff has to vote. On tonight's all new episode, it becomes clear that Jimmy and Miles will campaign for fire warden in very different ways. Who will win the votes?

Amy Miles: The Genius Behind the 7th Floor West Soundtrack

Posted by Sara Schaefer August 10, 2010 12:00 PM

On Thursday night, an all new episode of 7th Floor West premieres! Last time, the building security guy drew a line in the sand when he said that only one - either Jimmy or Miles - could be fire warden. While we're waiting to find out what will happen, let's take a moment to talk about how awesome the music is on 7FW. Have you ever noticed how perfect the songs are for it? All the songs are written and performed by recording artist Amy Miles. You may have seen Amy hosting her own PBS Kids show, Lomax, the Hound of Music, and performing in Amy Poehler's web series Smart Girls at The Party. While she's not writing her own music, she's crafting original songs for 7FW. She was gracious enough to take a break from her busy schedule to chat with us about what it's like writing songs for the most intense reality show on television. But first, head on over to our 7FW music page to stream some of her songs and read the brilliantly angsty lyrics. Okay, now. All about Amy:

LNwJF: What sort of music do you do when you're not writing for 7th Floor West?

AM: I've made 3 records. My latest record, King of Girls, was released June 1st on iTunes and my other 2 are on there as well. I'm a southern girl who's obsessed with Prince, but basically I write pop music.

LNwJF: Were/are you a fan of The Hills? Does that help inspire the music?

AM: I am a fan of all reality tv. Awkward weird real people. It's a trainwreck and I can't look away. It definitely informs the songs. They are much more earnest and sappy then my own music.

7th Floor West Outtake: The Extended Soda Machine Scene

Posted by Cory Cavin July 29, 2010 1:30 PM

One of the highlights of this week's 7FW was the long scene at the soda machine with Tariq, Questlove, and Jimmy. What you don't know is that originally the scene was much, much longer. Today we have a longer cut of it here for you. Here's what LNWJF writer/director Michael Blieden had to say about the extended cut:

Just a few words on this version of the soda buying scene from this week's 7FW. Amy Ozols' original script allowed for a long scene that involved Quest putting nickels into the soda machine. As scripted the scene was already longer than it needed to be, but that is how she writes these episodes, knowing that we will pare down the footage and choose what works best from the shoot. When Quest, Jimmy and Tariq began performing this scene, adding their own flourishes as they went, it grew to be as long, then longer than our allotted time for the entire episode. There is one take of this scene that ran for 15 minutes, and having been there I can tell you it was brilliant. All of this is my way of saying that at over 5 minutes, this is not an "extended" version of the scene, but rather still an abridged version. - Blieden

Here's to a 7FW Criterion Collection DVD in the future! (And get your fix for all things 7FW at SeventhFloorWest.com.)

7th Floor West Season 2 Photos

Questlove37.pngAfter last night's amazing episode of 7th Floor West, it is clear that Season 2 is going to get crazy! Somebody keeps putting Jimmy in weirder and weirder outfits for the show, and the building manager, Randy, drew a line in the sand when he asked who is going to be the seventh floor fire warden. Both Jimmy and Miles volunteered - but THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE! Check the barometric pressure up in this b*tch because there's a storm a-brewin'! Also, check out these photo galleries of the season 2 episodes thus far:
