It seems as though mustaches are making a little comeback in sports, especially in baseball. Mustaches were very prominent in the game in the 70's and 80's and have been absent for quite some time (aside from a career long Jeff Kent 'stache that spanned the 90's and 00's) but the more I watch the more I see players sporting them (pun intended!). For example, former Expo, Marlin, Yankee, Indian, and current Minnesota Twin, Carl Pavano has himself one solid Tom Selleck-y mustache going on right now. Keep it up Carl. Ok, maybe I'm a few days behind on this one but we're trying to establish this new feature here (so there is a little bit of catching up to do). But this is a perfect example of the kind of Mustache Alert that we want to let the world know about. Actor Andy Garcia (The Untouchables) is sporting himself one brand new gorgeous mustache. In doing some research (logging on to imdb.com) I notice that he is currently filming a movie called The Exodus of Charlie Wright. If he's filming that movie now, that means his character in that movie must have this sweet, sweet mustache!

There's a new rising star on the mustache scene, who also happens to be a rising star in the world of Major League Baseball. He's Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher, John Axford. Lately, John and his super waxed handlebar mustache have been closing out games in place of future Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman. Not since Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers has a mustache like this made such an impact on the game and in the mustache world. Welcome to the club John Axford.
