Jimmy had some really cool news to share with us tonight: Rolling Stone, in conjunction with Atlantic Records, is holding a contest to find America's next hot new band and make their TV debut on Late Night!!! The magazine and Atlantic have scoured North America and picked 16 unsigned bands to compete for the most coveted prize in music - the cover of Rolling Stone (plus a record contract and the chance to appear on Late Night!). The best part? YOU get to help decide who wins! Here's Jimmy's announcement, and below is more info and how to vote.

Over the next three weeks, the top eight will be decided: fans will pick their top four (and Rolling Stone editors pick another four). These eight will then go into the studio with a major producer, and produce two tracks. From there, the public decides on the final four, who will play a live showcase in front of editors and music execs. Finally, two bands will be left standing to battle it out live on stage at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. The ultimate winner, in addition to being the first unsigned band to ever appear on the cover, will also receive a recording contract from Atlantic Records, AND make their television debut playing on OUR SHOW!
